Portrait Session

Vonzel’s back!!! He contacted Shebee seeking some creative and festive shots to utilize as his cover art for an upcoming Christmas album! We were more than flattered that Vonzel thought of us for this important project for him and more than excited to knock his socks off! Vonzel wanted to the whimsy of Christmas with an adult feel, and as usual Sherona was already FULL of ideas. We got out studio set-up prepared, and got ready to dazzle away!
We started off as usual with some really casual shots, Vonzel in an incredibly dapper dark blue suit with a dazzling Christmas broach. Vonzel is always very comfortable in front of the camera, so even the test shots looked great! We grabbed a few shots of his bright smile and prepared to add a little more flair!
Next, we brought in our own little Christmas tree, complete with presents! Vonzel looked great with the deep blue of his suit contrasting with the red of the background. The tree and the presents added juuust the right touch of merry to the picture! Vonzel made a joke that we could wrap the shoot right there, but of course we had MUCH more magic to deliver!
Vonzel did a quick outfit change, and we changed up our background to get ready for some action shots. Vonzel is really great in photos when he’s performing, so we thought we’d give that concept a try. Vonzel did his best impressions of several “larger than life” personalities Sherona suggested, and I snapped away while he did! I wonder if you can guess who Vonzel was pretending to be?
After all that fun and movement, Sherona brought in some more props to give Vonzel a break from being the life of the party. Christmas lights are always a quick way to add cheer to any setting, and Vonzel definitely dazzled just as much as the twinkle lights with that bright smile of his! We grabbed several softly lit shots here, perfect for use in the promo of the album.
To wrap this session, we packed up the gear and headed to downtown Tallahassee. Vonzel’s Christmas music gave us a feeling of a live performance, so we wanted to provide a visual representation of that. Vonzel is certainly at home on the stage, so these photos went super smoothly. In fact, in my opinion they were the best in the bunch! We tried several different angles while Vonzel stood atop a small platform and just did his thing. The festive sweater that he’d selected for the second half of the session looked very bright and merry with all the twinkle lights around. There were also several people in the park with us as we shot these photos, so Vonzel took the opportunity to give everyone a little show! He’s such a performer, and we’re super happy he’s taking to a new medium.
