Portrait Session

Maclay Gardens

Gail’s back! This time, it’s her 70th birthday and she wants to get some pictures of herself and the grandkids to celebrate her special day. SheBee is always happy to step up to the challenge! We met Gail and the kiddos in the beautiful Maclay Gardens to grab some truly lovely shots (and some fun ones too!). We started off in the warm sunlight of the open field right before you enter the gardens. Everybody wore coordinating colors and looked really excited to be there, so naturally, Ausbee and I were ready to have a blast!

Next up, we headed on down the path of the garden to the cute little white gazebo right on the water. Here we took some nice starting shots for Gail, helping her get warmed up with the camera, whilst the kids had a great time foraging for leaves and branches near the water.

The greenery near the gazebo was so lovely we grabbed some more photos of Gail in front. Gail gave us her best attempts at sports illustrated model and we snapped away. And what a looker! 😉👌 Gail has definitely left a few broken hearts on the way!

We also got some lovely shots of Gail and her rapidly growing granddaughter. This little nugget is shooting up like a weed! 🤗Audbrey has been a Shebee kid for a while, and it’s so lovely to be able to capture her growth throughout the years. The love of Gail and her grandkids is virtually unmatched when the camera’s clicking, and it was really great to capture this special moment with the two of them.

The kiddos were all about doing some exploring, so we gave them the opportunity to run free while Gail changed into her second outfit. And boy, did they take advantage of the freedom! Ausbee also got our speaker setup, and we had a blast right along with them! I was expertly instructed in how to execute the baby shark dance and even learned some new kids bop tunes! These three kiddos are always so much fun and we love having a great time with them.

Next up, we got Audbrey to do some tree climbing! Audbrey had changed into this adorable mustard-colored sweater and gave us quite a few charming looks while we waited for Gail to finish glamming up.

Gail arrived looking ultra cute in a similar mustard colored sweater bedazzled with a gorgeous broach. Ausbee got started snapping away and set Gail up for a fun shot. Check out “The Many Faces of Gail” below!

Gail is always a TON of fun, and setting up this shot was no different. We grabbed several shots here in the bright sun and then posed Gail in the lovely greenery nearby. Gail had added a little color to her hair in celebration of her birthday, and the bright purple looked super cute in the sunlight! Once we got over in the shade for several shots, we were surprised by a jealous little munchkin who felt Gail was getting far too much of our attention, so we added him in for a few sweet shots with Grandma. Now, on to more of the park!

We made our way deeper into the park and landed in the little “secret” garden they have right next to the reflecting pool. Gail had picked some really great complementing colors for all the kids, and the little family looked really bright and happy amongst all the deep lush greens around them. We took a few moments to get some more photos of Gail alone, these are her birthday pics after all!

We finished our little portion by the reflecting pool with some more shots of cool-kid Audbrey and the whole gang having a great time. We got some races going and stirred up some major competition for some really cute photo results. 🤗 We both definitely enjoy setting up shots, but I think Ausbee and I would agree, candids are the BEST! Finally, Gail had one last special place in the park she wanted to visit, so we gathered up the crew and headed to our last spot.

Gail had special memories with a certain tree in the park and wanted to get her and the grandkids in one final shot. Ausbee helped the littles climb into the forked branches of the tree, and I did my best to be HIGHLY entertaining while we got some really cute shots. Unfortunately for us, Gail’s ittiest bitty was thoroughly over both us and photos, so we settled for his nonchalant face as the best we were going to get this far into the afternoon. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ We wrapped that day after having a great time, and Gail was so happy with the day she ordered a custom collage to go with her print package. I think she really enjoyed it as well. Check out the lovely photos below! ‘Til next time Gail! 🙂🤗
